In the center of Tamil Nadu is Pollachi, an area blessed with sunshine, rich soil, and generations of agricultural experience. Famously known throughout India as the coconut belt, Pollachi is the home of thousands of farmers whose existence is lived in and around the simple coconut. Yet until recently, their labor often went unrewarded in the international market.
That‘s why we started Pollachi Farmers Market—a people’s platform, by the farmers, for the farmers—to take local fruits and vegetables straight to global buyers, bypassing middlemen, and increasing farmer earnings.
Tree to Trade: How a Pollachi Coconut Makes Its Way
Coconuts go through a labyrinth of agents and middlemen before reaching you. At every step, farmers get underpaid, and consumers remain in the dark about the origin and quality.
Pollachi Farmers Market simplifies the supply chain. Here’s how:
Farmers list produce online (with full farm details)
Buyers from the US, UK, and beyond connect directly
Real conversations, real transparency
Fresh coconuts shipped straight from the farm
